Need to Monitor Absenteeism
The Marine Hotel is sister hotel to The Grand Hotel in Malahide. Similar to The Grand Hotel all staff members work on a two-week roster with the option of working on Sundays. Prior to the installation of TMS, Advance Systems’ time and attendance software, staff used daily time sheets to sign in and out. There was no way of monitoring lunch breaks, lateness, or absenteeism accurately. These sheets were then transferred manually to the payroll package. In 2002, Mr Al Ryan, Proprietor, decided to install TMS.
Instant Reduction in Labour Costs
Managers noticed an instant reduction in their workload and in labour costs. Reports are readily available through the system, and therefore assist in the accurate forecasting of rosters. This resulted in less employees required for overtime on Sundays, which decreased the wages bill dramatically. The reports also highlighted problem areas to managers thus allowing them to tackle issues fast and efficiently. Administration costs were reduced and payroll staff used their time more effectively as all information is easily exported to the payroll system in their sister hotel, The Grand Hotel.
