Greater Efficiency and Security

Clonmel Healthcare, part of the German based Strada Group, has been at the leading edge in the manufacture of high quality pharmaceuticals since 1970 and is Ireland’s market leader in this specialised field. The company has 250 employees, with an office at Citywest Business Campus, Dublin. 

In 2000 the management of Clonmel Healthcare installed TMS with access control; prior to this they operated a manual clocking system. The company operates multiple shifts, however, there was no means of accurately recording hours and payroll had to be manually calculated. This was time-consuming and errors occurred frequently. "It was a very demanding time, as regularly I would have to work late to finish the salaries at the end of the month" said Ms Dolores Hayes, HR. The company also needed a more secure system, as the nature of their business demanded the highest level of security. 

Managers’ Workload Reduces

With the installation of TMS, employees were issued with individual swipe cards, recording of actual hours worked was achieved for the first time, and forward planning of rosters was achieved, which was a major benefit. Managers are now able to get immediate and personalised reports and deal with anomalies as they happen. The system is accurate and efficient; managers have found their workload has reduced leaving them more time to deal with issues relating to the progress of the business.

Employee Attendance Improves

Employee attendance has dramatically improved as employees have ownership of their hours and can access their annual leave and hours worked from the clocks. This in turn has reduced the number of queries to administration. Annual leave calculations have been added to the system this year. 

The system was set up with detailed rules to manage the company’s multi-shift patterns. Despite its advanced functionality, it is a user-friendly and straightforward system and the IT Department has managed the software with ease. “The system dealt with every rule set up with speed and accuracy, we have not had an ounce of trouble since it was installed", said Mr Kieran Mulhall, IT. “Employees reacted very well to the new system as they recognised the need for a higher level of security.”
